Another great year for Leo Group at the Leeds 10K, as the team raise over £24k for Overgate Hospice!

10 July 2016

This was Leo Group’s 5th appearance in the Leeds 10K, which took place on the 10th July 2016. The 12-strong team ran the race with all making a new personal best time and completed the race with an average time of just under one hour.

Leo Group Managing Director, Danny Sawrij announced “this year we will be raising money for Overgate Hospice which is a local charity who are close to my heart, and who specialise in end of life, palliative care to its patients.  They also help to provide support and assistance to families and loved ones during those hard times”.

With over 100 supporters donating this year it was clear that the results would be significant. The target of £20,000 was smashed with Leo Group managing to raise over £24,000.

Faye Henderson a spokesperson from Overgate Hospice said “we are so grateful to the team at Leo Group for their dedication and on going support in taking on this challenge, a staggering £24,000 has been raised. This will allow us to care for over 150 day hospice patients, or fund 90 hours of care across the hospice. Without the support of companies like Leo Group Overgate Hospice wouldn’t be celebrating our 35th Anniversary caring for the people of Calderdale. We really cannot begin to express our thanks to the entire team.”

Leo Group will be taking part in next year’s Leeds 10K and will yet again attempt to beat their previous target!

Leo Group Ladies Show Support for Inspiring Yorkshire Women

20 May 2016

On Friday 20th May 2016, ladies from Leo Group Ltd attended the 30th annual Sue Ryder Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards at New Dock Hall, Leeds.  The event celebrates women’s achievement across the county – from dynamic business women to inspiring figureheads of communities who dedicate their lives to causes close to their hearts.

10 female employees attended the charity event, along with almost 800 of other attendees, who all gathered together to celebrate the special achievements of the nominees and winners. Jayne Senior was named the Overall Yorkshire Woman of Achievement 2016. Jayne was previously the manager of a project called Risky Business, which was set up to deal with children affected by sexual exploitation.  Sadly, the project got shut down but since then, Jayne has dedicated the past ten years of her life to helping children who have unfortunately been affected by exploitation.

A spokesperson for Leo Group said: “Leo Group has long been a proud supporter of Sue Ryder, and so attending this event was a privilege for us. It was emotional and humbling to listen to the stories told that afternoon – stories of hardship, dedication, achievement, success, hard-work and grit.  These ladies make us proud to be from Yorkshire!”

This year was a special milestone occasion for the event, as it was the 30th anniversary of the celebration. The afternoon was a great success with lots of money being raised to support the fantastic work that Sue Ryder do.

Leo Group team gearing up for the 10th Clarion Corporate Challenge 10k

26 February 2016

For the fifth year in a row the Leo Group will be fielding a team to run the Clarion Corporate Challenge 10k, a fantastic opportunity to raise money for charity, as well as to gain the reputation of being the fastest company in the region. In 2015, the Leo Group raised over £20,000 for Cancer Research UK, and the pressure is on once again to get fit and get the sponsorship money rolling in.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the event, and it promises to be a day to remember. The beginner-friendly route will pass through Leeds town centre, out onto Kirkstall Road before doubling back to the finish line on The Headrow. There will be a variety of entertainers along the way, and with post-run massages available in the beautiful Millennium Square, all the runners will be giving their all to raise donations for a variety of good causes.

Leo Group’s managing director and veteran corporate challenge runner, Danny Sawrij, said: “This event is one of the most important charitable events in our calendar. We hope to break the £20,000 figure again this year, and perhaps we will also be setting some personal bests on the day. It’s always a joy to participate in the 10k Corporate Challenge, and I look forward to running with the Leo Group team in July.”
