On Saturday 15 July, Leo Group held a Spring Hall Summer Ball to help raise funds for Ravenscliffe High School. Due to capacity issues their project @Springhall has been running since 2014, raising funds to build a new sixth form at Spring Hall site in Halifax. Just before the ball the school were at its final stages of funding but still needed an eye watering £250,000 for the equipping cost to go inside the school. Leo Group’s mission was to raise as much money as they could!

The night was a huge success, Leo Group extended invitations to clients and some of school’s staff to the ball. Leo Group would like to say a special thank you to the tables that attended the ball which include the main headline sponsors; 2 Sisters Food Group and Iqbal Poultry, the table sponsors; AWM, Mazars, Clarion, and all the local and national companies that also attended; DC Commercials, Graham Developments, Process Plant and Machinery, BCA Group, Clarity Arts, Thornton Breakers, M M Acquisitions Ltd, Foulds & Turton, Ravenscliffe School and Leo Group staff.

The ball was held in a marquee on land next to the Leo Group head office. There was a 3 course meal to enjoy along with live music, DJ, live auction and a raffle, but the true purpose for the ball really showed when the children from the school performed a 30 minute set, full of singing and dancing, which received a standing ovation from the audience. The auction began after the children’s performance and it was clear that the night was going to raise some serious money. In just one night Leo Group managed to raise an astounding £230,000!

Danny Sawrij, Leo Group Managing Director, said "When the donations and pledges were counted up I was simply speechless. Not for one moment in my wildest dreams did I think we could raise so much from just two events.”

Ravenscliffe’ s Head Teacher Martin Moorman, said "Leo Group raised an unbelievable £270,000 for our school both through employee participation in the Leeds 10K run and then by hosting a summer charity ball on 15 July 2017.”

“We have NEVER received support on this sort of scale and know of no other special school that has received this kind of support in the UK. I repeat £270,000 was raised for our Springhall dream in just that one week. It remains difficult to comprehend that amount and the implications it has held for our school. The support of all participants from Leo Group has been incredible. We are humbled and remain very, very grateful both for their fundraising ability and just as importantly, for their total belief in the project.”
Leo Group’s raised total for Ravenscliffe School!
Since Leo Group have had such generous donations and sponsorship from the ball and the Leeds 10K run, they have now managed to raise a staggering £ 273,765.91. The School were short of £250,000 for equipping costs which now they don’t have to worry about, thanks to all the kind donations.
